I think it's because of what's become the lack of a distinct purpose or direction for the forum. Being that it originated from the demise of AGN, which was predominantly concerned w/ PC hardware / overclocking, I had hoped that it would remain true, in the most part, to that genre.

I don't think that's been the case tho, as it seems as if there's more emphasis on the Cheers forum and a melange of inane subforums ranging from political BS to automobiles.

Personally, I wish more people would post about new systems they build or components they purchase and provide opinions on whether the products meet their expectations or not.

.

That is why PCA became a big family , just a group of friends , and friends talk about that , that is why cheers , jokes , political , cars , etc are the most popular sections , just because we became a sort of "virtual forum family friends". So I prefer to have friends than trolls or Azzhats talking about OC and case moding, not to set that away, but I prefer friends and the PCA family. small or big its like somebody said before; its just about quality . :)

hmmm, are you saying people who OC and case mod are trolls and azzhats? Seems rather harsh and narrow minded if you are.

Again, remember that the name of this place is PC Abusers, not PC Family Circle. Maybe we should change the name? That's my point, it started out as a PC hardware forum ( long before you were around here BTW ) as an extension of the now defunct AGN. Seems that it's gradually changed it's focus over the past few years. That's all I'm saying.

i've been really busy lately at home and work and haven't had that much time for computerating

walked into the office monday and the server had crashed over the weekend for reasons unknown and unfixable by me - finally got some stuff up and running today

looks like our last IT people forgot to return some software the last time they worked on the systems - :) - it's always a lot of fun when you try and repair something and the original software is gone .... grr

wish we could find someone like FP up here - about everyone we have run into has been a scammer

I duno I dont think PCA has changed it focus. We still have a good amount of posting in all the computer related forums. The computer industry has been somewhat stagnant the last year or so thus there is less to talk about in the computer related sub forums. Maybe as 64 bit becomes main stream and with the arrival of PCI Express thing will pick up in the computer forums.

It isn't that any 'focus is lost'. The additional forums were made to 'try' and get us busier since we were getting slower, and per requests of members here. They have helped.

At the old agn, in it's last year it was getting less and less busy. Remember, we tried less forums, new forums, nothing helped. At the ezboard for our agn2 (pre-pca), it was very busy. Then the agn wannabe wars along with a person, tore it all down and it hasn't been the same since. Many got upset and left for other pastures for good. A few grace us with their presence 'once in a while'.

Our for sale forum once had 2-4 new pages a day. We stopped dealers first, so they migrated and stayed at the other various forums even when later they also stopped dealers. That was a tragic and demoralizing effect for us here.

Some prefer the non-stop traffic and postings at other forums. Maybe it's me and my 'charming' personality. Maybe I've helped too many people. It sure has no effect on traffic. Anyway, I make no money from this so if we get 10 people per day or 10 million, I'd make the same. But yes it would be nice if we were busier in most of our forums. General at one time had a full page or more of new threads.

Contests don't work. Some may join, then see how slow it is, then go back to where they came from. Others may not get a question answered quickly enough for them, so they leave.

Hell I don't know. Maybe if I got a new haircut.

No Im not saying that, I know... my english sux. What I was trying to say is that some ppl just want to get a quick awenser , then post at OC or case moding"example" then they dont care about the forum , they dont know who the members are , or help to make a better forum , ( in some cases ) . and the point was like the cheers section is more like friends always the same ppl , ppl that do stuff for this forum , help others , etc. just my point of view!. But I'm not saying that other members are all trolls or asshats , ( just few once in a while ) . Im also saying that you can have a generic forum like its @#$@#$#tech , or a forum like PCA Where everybody knows your name. But again I didnt want to put in the same bag all the ppl that post at OC , for example.

i have to agree its a family at pca - not just some people trying to find a answer to a computer problem - or looking for a good deal on a computer part !
and we joke at each other at time - or disagree but the next min or day its old news and all is forgiven ! this is what makes PCA special .

Well.. I wasn't around for the AGN days.. (way too young anyways)
And at PCA its nice because of all the people on here know one another so well..
For example if someone needed a loan or are going through some troubles and need advice.. someones always there to help(except my WiFi card!!) and its damn near impossible to troll on here.. Even when i look at a new members post i welcome them.. than ask for heat.. even if they're not selling anything... And when something does happen... Everyones well spread out so if you live in Canada Or USA you better hope that wasn't your real address you gave out :D

I think PCA has a very rare quality... We are basically a Family...We celebrate B-Days and we keep an eye out.. when an avid poster hasn't posted in awhile we start to check up on them... (e.g. Blade) and I would help out with posting news but i don't even know how to post pictures(lol, even after 3 years).

It can't get much better if you ask me :)

Sincerly,(I know I spelt it wrong)

Part of the problem is that the hardware scene is dead, dead, dead, dead. Everytime I think about dropping 300 on a new board, cpu and mem, I have to ask myself why.

Also, who doesn't have more speed than they need other than to do folding?

When you stop building systems and farking around with them, the pc abusing part fades. I mean what can you tinker with now? I could drop mucho bucks on a radeon, but my ti4200 does everything I want to now.

I only post here and on ski forum. I am happy. We are a family here too, even though we get into little brawls sometime.

Still a great board, even if posts are down.
