been playing for the last 3 hours, actually plays fairly nice on my sys (athlon 1.2 gig 266fsb/512 ram/GF3)
the question is, to crank up the goodies and run ubersmooth, what would benefit me more, upgrade to gf4 ti4200 or upgrade cpu to an xp1800 or better??

sbp, no need to worry, I passed out last night AFTER I downloaded it and did a quick testrun (it was already 5 AM European time, hehe).

Welp, my main reason to get this demo was to see if my hardware can keep up with the demanding 3d-engine. I'm really waiting for Unreal II.

It plays rather nice at 1024/32bit without fsaa on my tbird@1.6 with my Ti200@Ti500, full details.

Okay quick impressions (and keep in mind that I was not a big fan of UT):

- Looks great (maybe a bit cartoonish, but that's the texture designers).

- Physics feel nice.

- Same lame-ass weapons (give me a NORMAL rocket launcher and a shotgun and I'm a happy camper, thank you).

- Models look damn nice.

- Performance seems to be very smooth on my AMD XP2000+ w/GF3 Ti-200. Playing it at 1024x768 32bit, all the eye candy (no FSAA) and it runs smooth.

- Bots seem pretty good.

- It loads VERY fast (big plus for me - one of my major problems with UT was the rediculously long load times)

Overall it looks like a nice engine. Not sure I'll get into playing it as-is (I just don't like the stupid weapons) but it'll be a great engine for other games and mods.

Is there some kind of trick to getting multiplayer servers to come up? I get a "Querying Master Server" message but no joy. Turned of the firewall and still no joy. Stuck playing bots.

Game play is much faster than the "leaked" demo from a couple months ago. I give it a thumbs up rating. :up
