I don't know what the deal is but it seems to me that pop ups have gotten a lot more numerous and more irritating of late. Anyone else noticed this? Have I been under a rock and they have been bad for awhile now? What's the best pop up killer proggie?

Have pop-ups gotten worse?
I have certainly noticed a very large increase in popups. Seems that even respectible sites such as IGN, or Voodooextreme now have ads flashing at you. If it continues to get worse, the internet will be nearly worthless, just a huge barage of ads screaming at you, while the real content lay burried underneath, never to be seen. Phooey to ads!

You don't get any pop ups here do you? I never see any. But, the ad biz is in total disaray now guys and some sites have to use whatever they can to stay afloat and some ad companies insist on pop ups or they get no support. They have no other choice.
It has gotten that bad and yes the well is that dry now. Even some of the major news sites are using them now like cnn and the local one I like to go to.
However, I know people will avoid clicking on any pop ups just for spite because we feel violated. Hell I never will click on them but some of them trick us by making the pop up count as a click regardless.
And those annoying animated and java ads most avoid them like the plague. Best ads that will work imo are ones that do not move. They have a good catchy add on it and will change once you change pages or refresh. They are not annoying and people are not annoyed by them so they are more apt to click it. But you can't tell that to the ad companies. They believe that flashy ads get others attention on TV so they will on the net too. What they don't understand is that the net is NOT TV. And I think last I read something like 1-3% actually clcik on ads. As annoying as most are I'm surprised it's that high. Hopefully they'll realize some things before it's all too late for many.
