They showed one of those at the annual EAA show in Oshkosh, WI a couple years ago and it was a flop. It's not really a jetpack but is powered by fans instead and (2 years ago), could hardly lift a guy more than a few feet off the ground. Cost was estimated to be ~$100K. The thing's huge and bulky too as you can see.
A real Jetpack (exists) would be far better but not likely ever available to the public, death is quite likely.

It's an amazing piece of technology.
According to the specs it can reach a height of 8000 feet, speed of 60 mph and has a range of about 30 miles. Imagine landing in a gas station to get your 5 gallons of premium gas, so you can fly for another 30 minutes. It has a tactical parachute so as long as you don't have a midair collision it should be safer then a helicopter.
They figure it will initially be for recreational and search and rescue use.

You guys watch the demonstration video on their website? Pretty unimpressive. It never gets more than a few feet off the ground and there's two guys walking along with it with their hands on it occasionally to keep it stable.
Not exactly the video I would have chosen to post to show off it's capabilities.

Reading its speculated specs, I find it hard to believe that it's capable of reaching 8000' and hovering there. Then too, it's got a 5 gallon tank and burns 10 gph so you'll have less than 1/2 to reach 8000' and land (safely). Don't think I'd try that.
