HubLAN21 - January 19-20, 2001
55 people

This whs the lagest LAN I have managed. With todays switches and box servers <100 shouldnt be a problem.

Also with the advent of LCDs the power consumption is much more manageable.

If your curious: http://www.hublan.com

I'm damn well up for it. I'd love to meet some of the people I talk to on this forum.

yeah we brought a power distro and tapped the mains going in the other barn and brought the power across the lot to the barn we were in. the power problems were people wouldent listen when we siad wait 10 minuets for power while we get that distro set up. I remember people playing cs and greg announcing that the entire building will loose power and to shutdown or else... and everybody ignored him and then i pulled the main in the other building and bam blackout. after we got that running and handed out the power to the tables it was all good after that.

Greg also had power problems at first and there had to be some accomodations made, dont' remember exactly what happened though.. :)

I think that was me who was disconnecting his cable. I don't see how anyone else could have found his cable in that mess we had. Lucky for me I had admin access to the switches and it was easy.

The power was taken care of by a friend of mine who brought a distro that we used to tap into the 440 line in the second barn. Want details? ask pugsley he knows more than I. All I know is that distro easily handled a 60 person lan party we ran in Indiana for 2 years. I know of no other lan parties that had only 1 power outage ever.

Also if you guys got something together in Texas I'd definitly go, assuming nothing big is going on at work during the time.

Lubbock.. in Oct/Nov is nice.. and cool.. ok. cooler..

I have done the "Sauna" lan's.. Quakecon.. JulyBash in mesa Az.. yeah..

If it matters.. I have 2x24 10/100 unmanaged switch's.. thats what I run the lan's for the store and the TGL ( http://www.techgaming.org ) lan's on .. so that should cover not quite half of the network..

and if we start a headcount.. I think Midnight Sin has him +1.. Guardian Asher is 1 and Me +1 ( GF is doing her FIRST lan this weekend.. she's gonna be a junkie.. I see the symptoms)

Just because I am an a$$hole.. doesn't mean I don't care..

Memories. :)

Really, had some good times.

The last year there were 126 paying people and an additional 15 - 30 that showed up....And I didnt charge the Ladies! ;)

HAHA, I lost so much $ on those things! I just havent been able to have another Large one because 1: I dont have the $, 2: no real time currently, 3: dad is a jackload about his property now.

Best of the Mid West still brings chills, http://www.twitchguru.com/2003/07/27/th ... index.html

Yea, the only reason we had any power issue was some people were Late, and others did not listen.

Man I miss my Lan. :(

Then Pugsley had a portable rackmount loaded with crap lol.. :) Pika and I & His lady at the time shared a table and had a blast issuing DOS attacks on some asshat that kept disconnecting his cable during a game of Battlefield.. eGo

Yeah remember I couldn't get the batch file to work, then whammo.... 10,000 pings at 65,248 size with an infine time loop.... funny.

Definatley good times. I mostly went for the paintball, great times, and the 'microsoft updates' if you will.

Keeping this thread alive! I agree with Qui and MidnightSin, I think the LAN should be hosted here in Lubbock. We deffinetly have the resources to do so, between Duckie, Midnight, Qui, Beefy and I. Plus, if it's hosted anywhere else, I won't be able to go >.>

Note: Everybody in PCA has like 2-3 spare linux boxes (or more) so we should be able to run everythig pretty good, no matter where it is....

Army Schedule is getting to me, but for planning... I'm in right now.... after October 29th.... I'm not able to

I am working on a location. I should have something by this weekend. If it turns out then I will start a new thread with people interested.

The typical LAN is no biggie... .but If Im going to come out of LAN Hosting Retirement it will be for a bg project with 60-75 people Location is the key.
