This Sucks!!

Post by stall6g »

Don't know about you guys but today is one of those days that I wish could start over. Kids were driving me nuts and then I give in and play on their jungle gym. Big mistake!! I slipped and landed right on my hand with all of my weight from about 6 feet up in the air. Just got back from the hospital where they told me that I dislocated 2 fingers along with fracturing one of them. :( I like to think that I'm pretty athletic and injury free. It seems like these last two years, I've just been breaking down. This is the 6th time that I've had x-rays in the last two years. That doesn't even include the pancreaitis (spelling?) and other illnesses that I've had. I'm only 29 but do you think it's just because I'm getting old?

Typing sucks but at least I was able to mold the splint around the mouse. The fracture is on my right ring finger and my pinky is the other one that I dislocated.

Nahh... Yer not old.... :) Yet.. ;) I have already had surgery for a slipped disc and I'm 24.. :) Had it when I was 22.. I remember one time I was rollerblading and I came to a part in the road where I had two choices..

A.) Roll down this big hill and right into a barbwire fence (I wasn't good at stopping)

B.) Go slowly over into a gravel parking lot and grab a truck and hope it keeps me standing..

Well, I chose B, and think I may have been better with the barb wire fence.. I go into the gravel slowly and I hit this one spot and my right foot went out from under me, then my left foot, then when I was trying to get myself back up I went back down on my right foot (picture cartoon skater with legs going all different dircetions) and my entire leg gave way. In doing so, I landed on it. My leg went 180* to the right. In other words my right hip was on the right side of my right foot all be it my foot was upside down.. I rolled over and felt it pop back into place and then I hobbled home. My mom wanted to take me to the ER, I refused, it healed on it's own in 3 months which I thought was much better than wearing a stupid brace for 6 months.. :) Hope your hand feels better soon! *runs to kill demons in Diablo 2*

Hey man, I know your pain. I am quite athletic and so are these other guys.. mostly skydiving related injuries, but after you see these, you will probably be almost pain free ;)

Please do not look further if easily grossed out or eating....

Last year my mom broke 3 fingers dislocating 2 of them when she slipped and fell.
Luckily she's regained a good bit of movement since then, but it'll never be 100% again.

LOL, yeah wait until you hit your 40's. I'm 49, and the big change comes with your eyesite. I can see OK, but I can't focus as good as I could when in my teens or 20's. You will notice it when trying to read stuff like the newspaper or a menu.

As for doing all those young and foolish things with kids, it depends on what it is. I don't try to push myself anymore like I did when I was in my 20's and racing go-karts like this one:

Heh, after seeing those pictures I don't feel so bad. I know that it could have been worse but it sucks since I was going to play in a racquetball tourney this week, have color guard duties saturday and was going to a golf tourney on Sunday. Now I have to sit on the sidelines and drink beer I guess. I gamed for a little while on Diablo but anything that I would have to click on more would be a no go. Damn splint keeps hitting the right click wasting portals and crap.

Yeah, It does suck to sit on the sidelines.. I was on a roll jumping and decided to get this house... But I will be in the air Aug15 ;) It's on then!

Atleast ya have something to have to look forward too.. Makes it all that much better when ya finally do get to participate :)
