doesnt look like a chop to me....looks like the real deal
after looking at it, appears the end of the tube with the cutoff was what went through the guy first. The other end (left side) was prolly at the bottom.

I think it's real. Notice the temporary bandage on the lower leg which seems to have been applied just to stabilize the metal pipe.
Not as bad as it looks. It passed between the muscle and fatty tissue - it did no real damage, it's just under the skin in the fat layer. I doubt it damaged any muscle.
I do think it's scaffolding (I used to work with scaffolding). Might explain how it penetrated so easily if he fell from several feet onto it.

as I work in an ER I would say that this looks painful, but is easily repairable. He may have some nerve damage, but that isn't bad considering what this could have done....his main concern will be infection, especially if he obtains a resistant bug. I have seen things like this, once had a guy come in that ran a drill through his hand....on purpose.
