First public gay high school to open in NYC

<i>NEW YORK (AP) -- New York City is creating the nation's first public high school for gays, bisexuals and transgender students.

The Harvey Milk High School will enroll about 100 students and open in a newly renovated building in the fall. It is named after San Francisco's first openly gay city supervisor, who was assassinated in 1978.

"I think everybody feels that it's a good idea because some of the kids who are gays and lesbians have been constantly harassed and beaten in other schools," Mayor Michael Bloomberg said Monday. "It lets them get an education without having to worry." </i>

Talk about sex education and how schools try and encourage students to not have sex. Isn't this promoting they get together? Segration is back.

Ok, now I demand a school only with girls, and me as the only male.

Geez what classes are going to be taught there? Is the school mascot a gerbil?

If there was a high school for heterosexuals you would hear the screams of outrage. Yet since its for homosexuals...its wonderful.

Just another double standard.

I think they'll be rediculed even more. If there is one thing I don't get about gays it's the fact that they have to rub it in everyone's face....I DON'T CARE IF YOU'RE GAY, GO BACK TO PUBLIC SCHOOL YA PUSSIES! They made the decision to be gay, now live with it

hmmm, to the vasaline co, the ballet, shops that make the ballet costumes, practive bending over is their exercise, etc..

Frankly, they get too many damn rights. The right to get 10% off vasaline is enough.

I wonder if heterosexuals will be allowed to attend. If not, that's some major bullshit. Kind of thinking it will be JUST for gays, transexuals, etc...that's really f*cked up.

The Harvey Milk High School?Am I the only one that thinks this name is a odd choice for a school intended for gays only?
