They put a camera on the main fuel tank looking down (like the view in the Apollo 13 movie). They'll be broadcasting it live during the launch here: http://playlist.broadcast.com/makeplayl ... 2&segment=
Launch is scheduled for 2:46pm EST today. I'm watching it now - they're showing the crew being strapped in.
A Reminder: NASA will be doing a live webcast of the Shuttle from an on-board camera!

If you guys didn't see it, they should repeat it on CNN most of the day. AWESOME. Unfortunately the camera clouded over after the solid rocket boosters seperated, but it was still great.

Couldn't get video from NASA's website, only audio. T-minus 4 minutes, I went out to the lobby where we had a TV on MSNBC. Those bastards kept going back and forth between the camera we wanted to see, to cameras on the ground. Separation of the secondary boosters was viewed from a camera on the ground. DAMMIT, we wanted to see separation from the main booster...and when they switch back to the onboard camera, we could only make out images, since the lens was covered with propellant.
Damn TV producers don't know squat on how to make camera selection these days...

I know, I was pissed they didn't show the seperation also, but I don't think it was the broadcaster's fault. I'm fairly certain that the switching was done by NASA. The networks just get a single video feed from NASA.
Now why the idiots at NASA would do that I don't know.
However there should be some footage of the whole feed from the tank cam somewhere - they usually record all the seperate channels individually. Hopefully it'll get posted.

I watched the launch on tv at work.
the time was about a quater to four pm
It was a Cool Shot . I had stopped -for a second The kitchen to look at the live cam and I have to tell ya ; That was cool.
Period. Most people that saw a repeat on the local news had no idea of what they were looking at .Oh well .It was a neat shoot and It will show the observer one thing for sure; When that
Shuttle takes off, It is Fuking MOVING.
Very cool. But is that all I get for my tax dollars? I sure would like a ride.
