Just want to post a heads-up for anyone doing business with this guy. He was selling a monitor over at broadbandreports.com he is "mikey2007" over there. The for sale thread is here: http://www.broadbandreports.com/forum/r ... ~mode=flat
I bought a CTX 20" monitor for $180 from mikey2007 on 7/28/02. He stated in the FS thread and email between us prior to sale that it was only 2 yrs old, like new condition, and he would pack it properly for shipment. The monitor arrived DOA and badly packed, but no outside damage other than a broken hinge on a small door. It powers up but there is no image and from what I can tell, no HV. This 20 inch monitor was packed into a used 17 inch Viewsonic monitor box so there is not enough space for packing peanuts in front or back. I found packing peanuts, pieces of styrofoam, bits of cardboard and other junk was used to take up space. The label on the back shows it was manufactured in 1995, not two years old.
I took pictures, then notified UPS and they picked it up for inspection. UPS Claims Department told me that mikey2007 was uncooperative when they contacted him for info. When UPS sent the monitor back to him he refused to accept it. Then he emailed me to say that UPS found no damage to the monitor or the package, and that he had fulfilled his obligation and the monitor now belonged to me. I contacted UPS Claims Department, and they said what UPS actually did was refuse to pay him the insurance claim because the monitor was badly packaged (not meeting their minimum packing requirements) and they could not determine if it was working before shipping or damaged by shipping.
Since mikey2007 can't collect the $400 insurance he placed on this monitor he is walking away from this transaction as if it never happened, hoping that if he refuses to take the monitor back he will be free and clear. mikey2007 had 3 good reviews at broadbandreports.com prior to this, but at some point he decided that a few bucks are worth more than his reputation.

I IMd him tried to tell him that I was only trying to protect my interests and money. After a couple of minutes of converstation he abruptly signed off IM, but checking the forum you could still see he was online. I then emailed him, told him I could see him online and that I knew he signed off on purpose and I would warn as many people about him as I could. Here is his email back.
"I wasn't pushing to SELL you that RAM anymore because i have no OBVIOUS way
to prove im legit so signing off was my way of saying im not going to sell
it."
Also tried to get him to ship first, insisted he was too broke to afford a 3.95 shipping fee and had to have the money from the ram in order to ship.
Be very warry about this person. If you do buy from him insist that he send first. This is not how an honest person conducts himself, and I am sure someone would have gotten scammed on this trade if I hadnt been as insistant as I had been.
