You can have a USB and PS/2 keyboard at the same time - ditto for mice.

Mos twireless mice really do suck for gaming, but that new Logitiech wireless seems to work well (the MX700 I think).

The jacks you buy at Home Depot come with a plastic disposable tool.

Yes you can cut the existing cable you have, stip back the outer jacket and wire it to these jacks.

Anyone know if you can read a DVD data disc from DOS?

If you boot into DOS using a 98 Emergency Disk and load DOS CD drivers, can you read a data DVD from DOS? I'm not sure if MSCDEX can handle DVDs. I don't have a DVD data CD here otherwise I'd try it myself. Anyone know? I have a cousin with with DVD Burner and I'm going to walk him through making a ...

Looks like Blade's getting a massage :) When I'm on broadband it doesn't bother me, but when I'm in Miami and using dialup on the laptop I could see it being a problem. I haven't tried looking at Pred's new sig on a dialup yet. One 30K flash sig on a page is no problem, but if you look at a page wit...

It definately would have been worth it. The food was outstanding. It was a buffet scattered outdoors and inside the clubs. Lots of good eats from lobster to filet mignon. We settled into the Jazz club at 9pm when the downpour started and I could have stayed in there with occasional forrays out for f...

No, I checked that. It was set for 29.97. Vegas Video has a preset for VCD compliant AVI files in the capture window, and if sets the framerate to 29.97. I'll do another 2 hour capture with Vegas when I get a chance just to see if it was a fluke. Vega is a professional (and very expensive) video edi...

No actually I'll get $50 back. They're refunding $25 for each $99 ticket.

Well, it's something. I'll probably take the wife to dinner at Citiwalk next week and get the refund money at the same time.

Well I recorded a 2 hr program using the WinTV TV Application's recorder instead of Vegas Video and the sound stayed in sync, so maybe it's just Vegas Video screwing up?

Doesn't make much difference to me how I grab the AVI so if that works I'll continue using it.

Those CPUs ran VERY hot. I can't see the motherboard giving false temp readings, although it's possible. I'd tend to believe it really is overheating unless proved otherwise. Since this is an old system it's possible the heatsink paste or thermal pad has dried up - not uncommon on K6 systems since t...

A question about audio synce when capturing AVIs...

I'm starting to capture long videos now (over an hour) and I'm running into audio sync problems. The longer the recording, the more the audio is out of sync towards the end of the recording. I can't understand why this is happening. I'm capturing to a RAW uncompressed AVI and I'm only dropping 7 fra...
