A very simple way to rule out a heat issue, is to open the side of the case, and place a small house fan blowing on the mobo and components. If you pc works, then heat is your problem. It's probably being trapped inside the case without proper means of exhaust.

Ramdom lockups can also occur with a bad stick of ram. If you have more than one, it's pretty easy to rule our the ram by pulling out one stick and test.

They are suppose to be pretty good, and better than McAfee and Norton.

The reason it's faster than Nortons because it does not move any files. It only de-fragments files.
