Speck102,
A very simple way to rule out a heat issue, is to open the side of the case, and place a small house fan blowing on the mobo and components. If you pc works, then heat is your problem. It's probably being trapped inside the case without proper means of exhaust.

Thoughts on HD cooling for SCSI HD

I just bought a Quantum Atlas 10k RPM 9 gig SCSI hard drive. I noticed that the drive can get quite warm to the touch. I have 2 options for cooling: 1. A 5¼" grill with 3 small fans and mounting rails. Just wondering how effective these coolers are. The only thing I don't like about it is I loo...

Ramdom lockups can also occur with a bad stick of ram. If you have more than one, it's pretty easy to rule our the ram by pulling out one stick and test.

Yeap, I just discovered this problem last night. I have a copy of Spiderman in AVI format, and I want to convert it over to MPG so I can play it on my DvD player. During the conversion process, the program errored out saying that the drive has run out of space. It's a 20 giger with only a ~700 meg A...

The reason I mentioned Quick Heal is it caught viruis that Norton would not, even one in my email from almost a year ago.

What do you guys think of Quick Heal? http://www.quickheal.com/default.htm

They are suppose to be pretty good, and better than McAfee and Norton.

The reason it's faster than Nortons because it does not move any files. It only de-fragments files.

The actual purpose is to provide a "path" to the location of the program in DOS or Windows. When I was using Diskeeper, it had the same line in the autoexec.bat file; however, it was not properly added to the path statement because it exceeded the 160 bits allowed by DOS. I don't remember ...

The 60GXP's are OK, but the 75's and 120's have problems. I have a 60GXP since last year, and it runs just like day one, but I have a dual fan underneath blowing air on it. I also have a HD temp utility that displays the HD temp in the tray. Mine usually runs at 30°C or less, but summer is just arou...

Hehe, sounds like "it's the time of the month" for a few members LOL. Some of you think that a degree means jack shit, but most employers will pay you more if you have a degree versus a simple HS education and experience. Please bear with me, as I do not have a 4-year college degree, only ...
