Re: electrical short in my convertible ?
One of my friends had a Sebring Convertible with a random drain on the battery. Ended up being the light on the sun visor. The switch died and the light would never shut off. Ended up having to disconnect it. Only way we found out was the small source of light when we shut the car off at night.

You can also put in the Windows 7 key during the prompt where it asks for it during the install. You don't have to tell it you don't have a key. Same build, 1803, on a computer that had never had Windows 10 installed on it. Used the Windows 7 Pro key from the sticker, left it disconnected from the n...

Re: New 128GB SSD $29
I have had very bad luck with Kingston SSDs. They are installed in some machines by the vendor we get the PCs from, but they seem to tend to die in a year or so. Total failure, all data lost kind of deaths. It got so bad that when we get any of these PCs in, the first thing I do is rip out the Kings...

Not too bad for 11 years. But I'm sure I've spent way more than that on consoles and those associated games.

Re: Dell BIOS update borks PCs
Dell consumer support has always been utter crap. Sad days were had whenever I had to call Dell on behalf of a customer's PC issue that was covered under warranty (only done for really good customers, mind. Others I'd leave to the wolves). However, Dell Enterprise support is amazing. I don't have to...

Re: Best Graphics Cards for the money
You know you don't need to install the Geforce Experience? I don't. I don't want that crapware on my PC. I actually really enjoyed the old version. Especially the settings optimization in games. Because I'm lazy :cool But since this new one came out where you have to be logged in to use it, I got r...

Re: Best Graphics Cards for the money
I'm running a GTX 960 right now, but a combination of me being stupid and only getting the 2GB card and the new GeForce experience flat out pissing me off, on top of the fact that FreeSync monitors are a lot cheaper than G-Sync monitors, and I'm really leaning towards replacing my current card with ...

Re: WTB/WTTF: PCI Graphics Card
Err: Completely understand about not wanting to let go of your old gear. If any of my old PCs had been salvageable when I was done with them, I would have loved to have held onto them. I had bits and pieces of all of my old PCs up until a few years ago when I did a mass purge to move to a smaller pl...

Re: WTB 'Vintage' PC Bits and Bobs
Was talking to one of my friends and casually mentioned my quest. He just so happened to have (most of) an old PC in his closet that fit the bill perfectly. I am now the proud owner of an HP Pavilion 4350. AMD K6-2 350MHz CPU, Super Socket 7 ASUS P5S-VM ATX motherboard with inbuilt VGA and IDE contr...

WTB/WTTF: PCI Graphics Card
This is a call to all my fellow hoarders! I know a bunch of you have this stuff laying around in a box somewhere. My fiance and I have the bug to play some old PC games we used to play growing up. Already tried the virtual PC route, but a lot of these games are CPU speed sensitive and just don't run...
