I've OC'ed my dual core X2 from 1.8ghz per core to 2.6ghz per core, faster memory bus speed, faster HT speed, and barely saw any difference at all in regular use.

When I was going to school, 12x 17 mile trips one way, along with a bit of other driving, I would average $35 a week.

I threw in the processor about a week ago, and it made a small difference to the lappy. At this point, I had already upgraded the ram to 576mb total (2x256 + 64mb onboard) as well as upgrading the old 10gb 4200rpm HD to a newer Toshiba 60gb 5400rpm unit. Nice mod link, but I'm not sure I want to get into that. I also just got lucky and snagged the chip on ebay for $20 shipped to Canada. Good price IMO, and I don't have to search anymore. Ed, Not interested in a new lappy, she just want a bit more kick and usability. We found 2x256mb's for cheap, and I got a faster HD I can put in there as well, so those will be a big boost by themselves. There's an idea Mickey.... I know high speed 100mhz FSB chips are rare, but I saw a 1.0ghz on eb...

I'm looking for said chip to upgrade my GF's old compaq armada 110 laptop. Currently has a celery 700

The chip has to be FC-PGA Socket 370, Coppermine, 100mhz FSB, and it will be a "SL5QV" stepping.
