3Dfx cards do not support multimonitor mode properly, so no I wouldn't try it (some people have gotten it to work with V3 cards, but I haven't heard anything about V5). Besides, the second card won't work properly for 3D - you'll only be using it for the Windows desktop, so why spend the money on a ...

You'll definately see some improvement, but you'll never be able to get the full performance out of the TNT2 Ultra on your system. You're severely CPU limited. Anything better than a TNT2 would be a waste of money, unless you plan on upgrading the CPU and mobo in the next 6 months. If you get a good...

If you purchased ACDSee you should have a serial number for it (they probably e-mailed it). Install the demo and enter the serial number.

Ram gets hot too, but not very hot and it should affect the case temp not the CPU temp.

It's more likely that when you installed the ram, you nudged the CPU which possibly moved the CPU temp sensor. More than likely the sensor wasn't making good contact with the heatsink before, and now it is.

I assume this computer has an onboard video card? See if there's a jumper or a bios setting to disable the onboard card. There may also be a BIOS setting that selects whether the PCI or AGP bus is used for the primary vid card. If that doesn't work, the only hope is that the computer will boot with ...

That's one thing I miss about the MX300 although the SBLive is still a way better card. Splitter cable is the cheapest option - they have them at Radio Shack. There's a nifty Live-Drive type solution I used which puts a headphone jack in the front that cuts off the speaker when you plug them in, and...

Yes, check the refresh - 60 fps sound suspiciously like he has the regfresh set to 60. With VSync enabled (as it should be for normal play) you fps cannot exceed the refresh rate. For timedemo testing, though, you should disable VSync. But, a V3 actually maxes out with a P3-500 or there abouts, so y...

Here's a little more background. In simple terms, it forces the mobo to vary the clock frequency all the time. So instead of the front side bus being EXACTLY 133 Mhz, it'll vary between maybe 125 and 136 (as an example - I'm not really sure of the exact values). What this does is spread the radio in...

Not uncommon. Many sites have subtle java script bugs (even the old AGN forum). These can be non fatal errors that the web page designer isn't aware of because he didn't have debugging enabled when he designed the page. I do web page sesign work so I need to leave debugging on, and yes many pages ha...

I can't reply to your message on the old board, looks like they're all locked... IE 4 adds most of the 98 shell enhancements to either NT or Win95 (like desktop web page, toolbars, etc). I don't think it adds the navigation buttons to the Explorer windows though - pretty sure that's a 98 specific fe...

Sounds like your CMOS got scrambled and you lost the settings for you hard drive. Set all BIOS settings to default in the BIOS menu and make sure the hard drive controllers are enabled, and set to detect you hard drives (set all drives to auto). I don't think you need to reflash. The procedure for e...

I doubt it's just heat - the V3 doesn't slow down when it gets hot - it either crashes or gives you corrupt textures. How many bots are you using - too many bots will cause a lot of lag - takes a lot of CPU power to run the bots, and you haven't exactly got a powerhouse CPU there. On a P2-400 I coul...
