I have another older laptop, an ABS G3 Mayhem (~04) with a bad HDD (won't boot, laptop was dropped). Whew, finally fixed!!! I followed the instructions that Bob posted above and that worked. Then I installed the Convenience Rollup, then still an additional 70 updates and everything's working as it should. Even the video card driver updated.

Well, it looked good at first, DL'd a few updates but then it's back to the same old BS but now slightly different. Sometimes it'll find updates but can't begin to DL them. Sometimes it'll say "No updates available, up to date" but then I look at the update history and see that most were &...
