Re: Why You Need a Pocket Router and How To Use One for Travel

I've actually been meaning to buy a travel router for quite some time, so I picked up the one he recommends on sale on Amazon right now: https://www.amazon.com/GL-iNet-GL-BE3600-Portable-Dual-Band-Computer/dp/B0F2MR53D6 We're doing more traveling now, and I bring my own Roku, a tablet, a laptop and ...

Fake “Windows Update” screens fuels new wave of ClickFix attacks

Sigh. Something to warn your friends and family about... or staff if, God help you, you're working in IT.

Re: I've gotten back into R/C Planes after a 12+ year hiatus...

Flies nice, challenging to land. I'm still tweaking. Pretty as they are I'm going to remove the wheel pants and put larger tires on it so I can mount the proper 13 inch prop (not enough clearance with the current tires). I'm flying it now with a 12 inch prop but it really needs the 13 inch. Larger t...

Re: Time to replace my 15 year old PC

Another potential gotcha: If that mobo has been sitting on the shelf for a while, it may not support that CPU out of the box. That mobo has the ability to flash the BIOS without having a CPU installed (ASUS FlashBack). I would definitely flash the BIOS, regardless, as they are doing AGESA updates al...

Re: Time to replace my 15 year old PC

If your last rig was DDR2, you may not know about EXPO, which is AMD's version of XMP. Your RAM clock will default to 4800 unless you enable EXPO in the RAM timing (usually in the section of BIOS called the Tweaker section eg. AI Tweaker, OC Tweaker, etc): https://www.gskill.com/community/1584933243...

My only comment would be the processor. That's a workstation load processor. If you're primarily concerned about gaming performance, consider an X3D processor as even a 7800x3d would outperform it in most CPU intensive games because of it's very fast and large L3 cache: https://www.forbes.com/sites/...

Chrome & Edge’s Scareware Blocker is Now Enabled By Default – How to Manage It

While this is a good feature for noobs (you definitely want to leave it on for your parents or other clueless family members and friends), most of us here don't want this or need it. It runs a local LLM in the browser and monitors your browsing to look for Scamware pop-ups. There's a performance cos...
