please help me find a Samsung Original PC2700 512MB module!
i've run a search on pricewatch for "samsung original PC2700 512MB." only one page of results shows up, and of those results, only a handful are actually "original" samsung. of those, i have yet to call one and hear that they sell samsung chips on actual samsung PCB. its as if th...

does the ABit BD7-II RAID have onboard 1394 firewire?
i've read a review @ Overclockers Australia that says the board has no firewire capabilities. but the review @ [H]ardOCP seems to be a little contradicting. under the features section of the first page of the review, a table is shown. in the FireWire row, it claims to have 3 IEEE-1394a ports. howeve...

i 2nd Motherboard Monitor 5 (MBM5). i have an ASUS CUSL2 mobo that temps from the thermal diode inside the CPU, the northbridge of the i815E chipset, and the case temp (i'm not sure where this particular diode is located on the mobo). MBM5 is able to detect these 3 sensors and up to 7 more if you ha...

what size memory modules should i use?
ok, i just found out today that the new SiS648 chipset will support DDR266 in all 3 memory banks, but will take DDR333/366/400 in only 2 memory banks (correct this information if it is wrong please...). this leaves me in a bit of a dilemma, seeing as how my near future upgrade includes a board that ...

its been quite a while since i first posted this thread. since then i've read those reviews and one or two more from some other hardware review sites. but i guess somewhere in there, i failed to see the part about how many DIMMs could be filled with memory rated at certain speeds. i appreciate that ...

DDR memory question. HELP!!!
all the time i see DDR memory referred to in different notations, and i don't quite understand it all. i think i understand this much: 1) when it is referred to as DDR333, 333MHz is the clock speed at which SDRAM would have to operate to achieve the same data transfer rate, so the DDR333 is actually...

another question...i edited my original post to include it, but i don't know how many people will see it up there, so i thought i would post the question down here too... although the SiS648 doesn't officially support DDR400 memory, it has been tested by hardware reviewers and has been found to work...

well i read that article @ overclockers.com. it really wasn't ragging on the new SiS648 chipset. rather it was saying that, all other things (components) being equal in a system, the 10% performance gap shown by most hardware review sites that SiS and VIA chipsets will give you over an intel chipset...
