Reinstall WIN XP on SATA Drive

I am going to break down and do a fresh install on Win XP. I have the BIOS set to boot off of CD. Windows starts the installation process, then says it can't find a hard drive. In the BIOS it recognizes the all Hard Drives. The Hard drive is a SATA Western Dig. 74GB Raptor. I'm sure it is something ...

Yes. I'm not one to let something like this get the best of me. I am trying to narrow things down. Both IPODs work, but none when attached USB. All USB's do work with every USB device I use on the PC. I feel like backing up everything and re-installing the whole computer. Alot of work if it doesn't ...

Nothing, I put my jumpdrive in with device manager open, and it pops up. I then inserted my IPOD cable after "Safely Removing Hardware" no response from from device manager. When I check Properties on "Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller Properties, the advanced tab shows the...

I have two IPODS, One 4th Gen., and One 5th Gen. The Fourt Gen. IPOD isn't recognized by USB, but when I plug it via FireWire (1394) it works perfectly. 5th gen. IPODS are not fortunate enough to be recognized by Firewire (1394), thus I am out of luck until I find a way for my computer to recognize ...

I went on NVidia's site and it said this about NForce 4 Driver. I do have SP2 with all updates though. This would definately explain what is going on though. I can I tell if USB 2.0 isn't really USB 2.0? I do have it enabled in the BIOS and it is set USB 2.0 enabled and fullspeed or highspeed. IPODS...

Her's is 4th gen. no pics or video, mine is 5th gen video. I attached her IPOD through 1394 wire, BINGO all works as is should. I get the audib...

Technically, my PC isn't a Hewlett Packard. I just have Win XP Pro SP2 installed from my original HP Operating System CD. Why would it effect only my IPOD and not any other USB controlled device?

Well the HP Win XP disc says SP2 on it already. I updated all Microsoft Win XP drivers through Windows Update. I updated my BIOS and NVidia Chipset from my ASUS A8N32 SLI Mobo. If I go to get these drivers from HP, will it negate my present updates?

So, I guess you are saying I am at square one? This is driving me nuts. I put the IPOD in disk mode, out of disk mode, restarts, re-installs, etc. It plays great, doesn't lock-up, plays video, but it is not recognized by my computer. Not in Device Manager, not in admin tools nothing. No noise when I...

In addition, I think it may be my HP Win XP Pro SP2 Disc. I used this disk to install on my resurrected HP. The only thing left to the HP computer is the Floppy drive. Does anyone know what diifferences HP WIn XP Pro has with the Microsoft stock disc?

Recommended Voltages?

I have an AMD Athlon X Dual 4200+ With an ASUS AN832-SLI MOBO In the BIOS is says I am running the CPU 1.4V What kind of voltage can I bump up to still keeping the system stable? Also, my Jumperfree Config for PCIE Freq. is 100. Can I change this for a performance gain? In addition, the PCI Latency ...

Thanks alot. I ordered the Linksys Router (54GL), and the Linksys PCI Adapter from Newegg. I just cancelled the order and re-ordered the Linksys USB 2.0 adapter. I did however get the speed boost one. It had a $10 rebate and ended up being only a few dollars more. It will be nice to have my laptop f...
