FS: HP JetDirect 170X External IPX Print Servers
Hey,
Our school has a bunch of old HP JetDirect 170X external IPX print servers that we'd like to get rid of. We're asking $10 each. All are working fine, they've just been taking up space in our office since we switched to Novell 6.5 and TCP/IP. Let me know if you're interested.
Thanks!

Hey, Thanks for the reply. WMIPRVSE.EXE was missing from the C:\windows\system32 folder. I'm sure this was part of the problem. Not sure how it was deleted or if it was ever there in the first place. I copied the file to C:\windows\system32 from the C:\i386 folder. Hopefully this will solve the prob...

Strange Error Message
Hey, The following error message pops up on my Windows XP Pro computer at work a couple dozen times a day. I know what the WMI service is, but I haven't been able to find any information about why the error messages are coming up. Application popup: wmiprvse.exe - Application Error : The instruction...

Regardless of whether Microsoft wrote the program or not, I think people will finally wake up and smell the spyware coffee, now that Microsoft has slapped their name on an anti-spyware product. I think more people recognize the Microsoft name over Webroot, Spybot, Lavasoft, etc. There are many peopl...

Why is Firefox so great?
Hey, I downloaded and installed Firefox and Thunderbird a couple of weeks ago, used them both for a while, then uninstalled them. I didn't think either had an advantage over IE, with the exception of Firefox's ability to delete history, cookies, temp files and address bar contents through one button...

Microsoft Releases Anti Spyware Beta
I just downloaded and installed it. It's fantastic! It combines the best of SpySweeper, SpyBot and Ad Aware. It has resident shields, the ability to scan mapped network drives, the ability to schedule updates and scans, plus a tool called Tracks Eraser that gets rid of MRU lists for Windows and seve...

Configure MSN Messenger and McAfee to use a proxy. I'm not sure how to do this in McAfee, but in Messenger, do the following: 1. In MSN Messenger, click the Tools menu 2. Click the Connections tab 3. Click the Advanced Settings button 4. In the HTTP proxy box, type the internal address of your route...

I'd love to know what happened to the Canadian PCA contingent! It would seem most of us have just vanished without a trace. I still check in, if not post, on an almost daily basis just to see what's up, but gone are the days of the Ukrainian PCA Posse. I haven't heard from Plucky in a while either. ...

Windows XP SP2 Firewall
Hey, Has anyone come across this problem? I now check the status of the Windows XP SP2 firewall regularily, because, a while back, I found that, somehow, File and Printer Sharing and Allow Incoming ICMP Echo Request were enabled on my Internet connection! I religiously disable these whenever I refor...

I prefer the older version, 2.3.4. It's easier to use than the newer version.

This article is interesting. I used to work for a major computer retailer so I can explain how rebates and margins work, in case some of you were interested. If a product has a mail-in rebate from the manufacturer, the manufacturer takes a loss on the product. The retailer does not. The reason? The ...
