A friend of mine had a virus on his puter a while that infected the mbr. I got rid of it by useing a startup disk and then Fdisk\mbr three times and that took care of it nomore problems. it may or maynot work for you but if it looks like you have to format the drive its worth a shot.

I bought a 48x24x48x liteon recently and its great. I use alcohol 120% or clone cd and it will copy everything Ive put in it so far.
