New Comp Problems

Building my friend's new computer and am hitting some major speed bumbs. First off, his Radeon 9600 he ordered from Newegg came with the little black piece that holds down the heatsink broken. If anyone knows a way to remedy this (without either contacting Newegg or ATI, we are doing this as we spea...

Video card recommendations

Currently I am helping a friend build his first desktop (still stuck with his old Dell laptop, I'm afraid its just not up to par to handle WoW that well :p ). The one thing I'm having the most trouble with is the video card, having not upgraded myself for quite some time so I'm not up to speed with ...

Locked Files?

Hey all, got asked a question of which I am unsure how to solve, and I thought this would be the place to turn. A friend of mine said he was having major issues with his computer so he did a system restore but left all his other files intact (aka meida and the whatnot). When he restarted, the system...

Registry Question

Okay, recently I had to wipe my system drive and install WinXP, all fine and dandy. But one thing that occured to me, whenever I put in a game CD it asks to install the game since it can't find it in the registry. Is there anyway to fix this (short of reinstalling) since games such as WC3:FT can't u...

For some reason, I can no longer cut and copy files or move them around at all. ANY clues as to what the problem is would be nice, cause I hav...

Compaq problem

Alright, my roommate's laptop is having some problems and he's pretty clueless on what to do. Anytime he trys to play an MP3, it wont play and say the sound device is already in use. However, when he puts in a DVD and it autoplays it will say no sound device is detected and shut down. Any idea where...

I think it was happening before I reinstalled Windows, but now it has really started to get in the way. I can't access things like my online grades or homework, so now I'm really getting worried about it.

Internet Oddity

Just got done reinstalling Win2k after having some serious issues, and I've noticed that on certain websites there are particular links or buttons that don't do anything when I click them (the delete button in Yahoo mail being one). Any clue as to what the problem is???

I can't speak for others, but I LOVE my NEC1760NX. It extremely sharp, no problems with ghosting, large space saver (it matters at college), and tons lighter when transporting it to and from home. If you want size, CRTs are still the way to go considering I could have bought like a 21" CRT for ...

I got worms....

For the past day now my virus scan keeps telling me it is finding and deleting winhlpp32.exe which is being recognized asa W32/Gaobot.worm.gen. So far there seems to be nothing wrong, but it keeps coming up almost every hour saying its gotten rid of the exact same virus. I'm guessing there is some o...

AT, what would you expect from the people who did Eva??? :p

I thought it was very entertaining and am currently working my way through the manga. It is also good, but having watched the series makes it much much easier to get through.

smb- Yeah, I have a Purdue University service pack of Word, gives me all the Office applications.

FP- Well, I had that earlier post about stuff getting installed into my IE, so my guess would be yes. I'm gonna try the uninstaller and pray it has good results.
