I'm interested in the Xircom Type3 PCMCIA 10/100 lan card. I have a Gateway Solo with type II and type III 32bit slots will the Xircom work in it, I don't know squat about laptop stuff yet? If thats a go and there are drivers for ME and 2000pro I'll take it. :)

If its your only device on that channel remove the jumper.
Just remenbered I did hear about some "problems with > 80gb drives" but don't recall the fix. Google might turn up something for ya.

cable select

I didn't say it was necessary, but have seen it work when no other setting would. DVD-Roms and some burners seem to be picky about other hardware they reside with.

DirkBelig, I've read posts where some have gotten notes in with their board telling them to use cd/dvd on ide 1 and hd's on ide 2 for best results. Some have said this fixed problems for them.
