Sight unseen, my first reactions to that stated problem would be:

-Bent/broken pin on cable

-Refresh rate exceeding card/monitor capability

I haven't used either of those cards in a dual setup, so I can't claim to be an expert.

I could probably hook that up from memory - I just got done with a gig teaching PC technicians using that board. If not, I have access to working examples of some. If you get stumped, post here or (preferably) PM/email me.

Me, too. I've done both the old and new tests, and am about to redo my Net+ the same way.

Did you by chance check the contact patch between the CPU and HSF? That beep signal correlates to an overheat on a couple mobos in my experience, and the only thing you originally did was change the HSF....therefore the prob is almost certainly related to that action. Please don't repeat my mistake ...

Within 48 hours of installing my first SB Live, I had removed all extraneous crap and have gone Drivers Only ever since. Creative, IMO, closely follows AOL and RealPlayer in its' unauthorized and excessive use of system resources.

I'm heartened by the competition; ATI makes decent hardware, but they need better talent in their Driver section.

Actually, it occurs to me that I no longer have an Nvidia product in any of my boxen. All ATI/Matrox. Hmmm.

I went 15 rounds with a T3000 once, and lost a unanimous decision.

Seemed willing to work with the proprietary add-in card, though, even when it wouldn't play well with the onboard floppy controller.
